When are Powerball drawings, and how much do tickets cost?
Powerball drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The numbers are televised live at about 10:59 p.m. Eastern time, or 7:59 p.m. Pacific. Ticket sales generally close roughly one hour before the drawing, although deadlines differ by state.
A standard Powerball play costs $2. Players select five numbers from 1 through 69 and one Powerball number from 1 through 26, or they can use Quick Pick to have the numbers generated automatically.
For an additional $1 per play, players may add Power Play. The option boosts most non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times, depending on the multiplier selected for that drawing. Powerball is available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
