Super Bowl staff predictions

MARK CANNIZZARO: Chiefs 36, Eagles 28

I truly admire the Eagles’ team, as they have a well-rounded roster that would likely outperform the Chiefs in a position-by-position analysis. However, the Chiefs stand out in the most critical position: quarterback. Patrick Mahomes is exceptional under pressure and excels in crucial moments. On the other hand, the Eagles’ strong asset is their running back, Saquon Barkley. Nevertheless, the K.C. defense, led by Steve Spagnuolo, has an impressive record of not allowing any opposing player to rush over 100 yards in the past 19 games this season.

BRIAN COSTELLO: Chiefs 33, Eagles 30

The Chiefs have been finding ways to win all season. That doesn’t change in the Super Bowl. Patrick Mahomes pulls off the three-peat and makes his case as the greatest quarterback of all time.

RYAN DUNLEAVY: Chiefs 28, Eagles 25

The Chiefs rediscover their throwback offense-fueled path to victory. Saquon Barkley will snap the Chiefs’ streak of 18 straight playoff games without allowing a 100-yard rusher under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, but Patrick Mahomes gets the ball last and does what he does best.

PAUL SCHWARTZ: Eagles 31, Chiefs 20

The Season of Saquon ends with another show-stopping performance and an MVP award for Saquon Barkley. The Eagles are stronger across the line of scrimmages, and the Chiefs have been winning on the margins for too long. There is a reason why no team has ever achieved a three-peat.

STEVE SERBY: Chiefs 26, Eagles 20

Grandmaster chess matches pitting Andy Reid versus Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore versus Steve Spagnuolo. Saquon Barkley gets 100 yards on his birthday, but Patrick Mahomes smells a three-peat.

Betting on the NFL?

MIKE VACCARO: Chiefs 27, Eagles 24

The Chiefs don’t only know how to win football games, don’t only know how to win close football games, they know how to win gut-crunch games with the world watching. They’ve trailed in the fourth quarter in all three of their Super Bowl wins with Mahomes. I won’t presume otherwise until I see it.
