KANSAS CITY, Mo. () Authorities were expected to provide an update Wednesday on the investigation into the deaths of three Kansas City Chiefs fans who were found dead in the backyard of their friend’s home in 2024.

Ricky Johnson, 38; Clayton McGeeney, 36; and David Harrington, 37, were all found dead in their friend’s Kansas City backyard on January 9, 2024.

After their deaths, local affiliate WDAF reported toxicology results revealed the men died from fentanyl-laced cocaine.

That, however, was never confirmed by investigators.

Weather records indicate the low temperature that night was around 33 degrees.

One factor fueling speculation about their deaths has been that the homeowner says he didn’t know the bodies of his three longtime friends were on his back porch and in his backyard for the two days before they were found.

Officer Alayna Gonzalez, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City Police Department, previously said that the homeowner was cooperating with the investigation.
