Major fashion designer sends shockwaves through the industry

A top designer who has worked with A-listers like Taylor Swift and Julia Fox has shocked the fashion industry by joining OnlyFans.

Elena Velez, 30, first got involved with the platform last year. However, she has now elevated her partnership with OnlyFans by creating an exclusive capsule clothing line for the site.

So far, the limited edition line consists of an edgy black T-shirt for $275 and a $350 hoodie.

Unlike many other famous figures on OnlyFans who focus on sharing explicit content with their followers, Velez is using the platform to showcase her work as a fashion designer.

The outspoken CFDA award winner is also using OnlyFans as a way to push back against censorship and outrage culture.

‘On top of the precarity of a career in the creative industry, we’re also in the middle of a culture war,’ she told Page Six.

‘Every time I express my opinions or showcase my creativity outside the accepted norm, I know there is a risk of facing public backlash and potential professional isolation,’ she shared.

‘It has never been more important as an artist who values the integrity of creative expression to diversify their means of income.’

She added, ‘OnlyFans is a really cheeky and disruptive way to democratize access to capital and target different audiences.’

Last year, Velez took her OnlyFans collaboration to New York Fashion Week, which was documented on the site’s safe-for-work streaming platform OFTV.

Velez’s designs have been worn by countless celebrities, including Charli XCX, Solange Knowles, RHONY alum Leah McSweeney, Succession star and podcaster Dasha Nekrasova, and music superstars like Doja Cat and Rosalia.

The New York-based designer is just one of a growing number of public figures who have used OnlyFans to push PG-rated content through OFTV.

All the content on OFTV comes from OnlyFans creators, but unlike the actual OnlyFans platform, no nudity or pornography is allowed.

In January, Heidi Montag teamed up with the site to release a music video for her viral single I’ll Do It.

Actress and comedian Whitney Cummings also partnered with OnlyFans for a number of exclusive stand-up specials.

Cummings joined the site in 2022 so she could post some of her edgier jokes behind a paywall without being ‘taken out of context’ on more mainstream social media apps like Instagram.

‘I know people like to make fun of [OnlyFans] because there are naked ladies on there. I just decided, if the audience is going here, as a comedian there’s something worth checking out here,’ she told Variety last year.

She added: ‘I wouldn’t have the self-esteem to charge people to see my naked body. Instead of dirty photos, you’re gonna see dirty jokes.’

OFTV also signed former The Only Way is Essex stars Chloe, Frankie, Demi, and Charlie Sims for their own family reality show, House of Sims.

‘There is obviously a bit of a taboo around OnlyFans,’ Frankie admitted to Good Morning Britain.

‘OFTV is more like the sister platform,’ Charlie explained. ‘It’s stepping away from the explicit or the nudity side. It’s all gonna be safe-for-work stuff and it’ll be suitable for anybody to watch.’
