Fans of ‘Severance’ eagerly consumed the second season of the popular workplace thriller on Apple TV+. Now that the season has concluded, as Irving B would say, “We’re hungry for more, Mr. Milchick!”

Following the impactful and emotional conclusion of Season 2, viewers are not only craving new episodes but also a fresh ranking of the cursed foods featured in the series. From the introduction of the cursed Kier and PE food lineup in the second season, the curiosity about the food hierarchy has piqued.

In the initial nine episodes of ‘Severance,’ we were acquainted with items like “shitty cookies,” melon bars, and waffle parties. The ranking of Season 1 foods was based on their safety and taste levels. Now, in Season 2, the series has introduced an array of new food options ranging from fresh fruits to vending machine snacks and ORTBO perks, elevating the culinary experience within the show. Thus, it’s time to create another list of the edible offerings for Kier and the audience.

The food on Severance is still ripe with sinister undertones and subtext, but the team meticulously crafts each mysterious and important offering. And thus, they deserve to be savored in the ultimate Severance Season 2 food ranking.

From concerning Season 2 lows like the sad contents of Mark Scout’s fridge to unbelievable highs like Fields’ home cooked ham with cumin glaze, here’s what’s for dinner, kids.

The Woe’s Hollow Dead Seal

Sadly, it wouldn’t be a Severance Season 2 food list be without the very carcass that made our dearly beloved Irving B. scream, “WE SHOULD EAT IT!” in the middle of snowy Woe’s Hollow. Was that man absolutely spiraling? 100%. But his “We don’t know if there’s food waiting at the hollow! We don’t even know where we are! We don’t know what this is! We don’t know anything!” reasoning did make some sense at the time. Plus, he’s starving, Mr. Milchick! That said, due to this being a literal dead rotting seal, we must legally place it dead last on our Season 2 food ranking. However, just know that on more than one occasion I did debate having it tie with the season’s second most diabolical food…

Helena’s Hard Boiled Egg

Egg-scuse me while known egg hater Ben Stiller and I barf! Season 1’s egg bar may have been coveted AF (it came in third on my first food ranking!), but Season 2, Episode 9 features one of the most cursed eggs in TV history. Creepy plate/severance symbolism/vintage egg wedger analysis aside, Helena slices a single hard boiled egg for breakfast in her and Jame’s cold AF glass home, splits it into six pieces, and meticulously arranges them on her plate. As Daddy E watches, she takes the tiniest slice of unseasoned egg white and chews as though she’s consuming the most unappetizing substance on earth. Just when you think this egg can’t get any less appetizing, Jame moans, “I wish you’d take them raw,” in reference to Kier Eagan’s favorite breakfast, three raw eggs in milk. That gag-worthy scene — especially knowing Severance‘s curious relationship with eggs — is Season 2’s least pleasurable eating experience. Eating this bland egg with that man watching? Only a dead seal carcass could rival it — and even then, it’s a close call.

Lumon Food Pellets

In Episode 207, Severance finally takes us down to the terrifying testing floor, where every food is immediately more cursed than non-testing floor foods (with one exception). If this was The Bear, we’d be ready to gobble up Carmy’s innovative, minimalist, flavor-packed portions with gorgeous garnishes. But this isn’t The Bear. It’s a funnier show. And the food provided by Lumon — especially on the testing floor — is immediately sus. These logo-shaped food pellets are by far that most concerning cuisine in Gemma’s prison. On one hand, they’re kind of giving the same forbidden snack vibes as a Tide Pod or a delicious-looking pencil grip you bought at the school store. But in reality, they’re unknown company-produced substances flavored to taste like everything from Livered Pâté and Rendered Marrow to Macaroni & Cheese, Garden Snap Peas, Chives, and more. Just toss them in boiling water and bon appétit? Not in this lifetime, Lumon.

The Testing Floor Airplane Meal

Ask for non-pellet testing floor food and you shall receive, but just know it’s not much better! Gemma finally got a more recognizable full-course meal out of Lumon, but she received it in a flight-simulation testing floor room, so at what cost? Dr. Mauer (dressed as a flight attendant) slammed the meal down on her innie’s tray table (which should be in the upright and locked position) mid-turbulence. The mashed up food was briefly visible through a transparent to-go container lid, and let me tell you, it looked gross! Even if the turbulence died down and the food was delicious, Gemma wouldn’t remember it when she left the room. But it’s better than Willy Wonka-style mystery pellets, I guess.

Rose’s Drippy Pot Cafe Mystery Meal

Speaking of mystery meals, what was Rose eating at Salt’s Neck’s Drippy Pot Cafe in Episode 8? Some pie, perhaps? Do we spot blueberries? Or chocolate chips? Whatever it was, she seemed to be enjoying it, but because Cobel’s hometown is a destroyed Lumon town, the cafe has super sad vibes, and the food could very well be contaminated with ether or something, we have to pass. Sorry, Hampton. You seem like a real one and you can cook for us outside of Salt’s Neck anytime.

The Snow Seal

Thought the Woe’s Hollow seal discourse was over? Think again. We can’t forget about the Snow Seal that Helly (aka Helena Eagan in disguise) made Irving as a callback to his early moment of paranoia in Episode 204. The pros? It’s snow! It looks cute! It’s a cold little snack! The cons? Insulting! The snow isn’t sanitary and it appears to include some rocks! Gift from Eagan CEO in waiting! Snack at your own risk, but probably still safer than everything ranked before it.

New Vending Machine Snacks

When Keanu Reeves announced new vending machine snacks in the Season 2 premiere’s “Lumon Is Listening” video, I was pumped! Fruit leather! Cut beans! Christmas mints! And salsa! These fresh offerings sound fun, but thanks to a generous package from Lumon, I’ve since tried fruit leather and cut beans firsthand, and let me tell you, my tastebuds were NOT impressed. Though Christmas mints carry a whimsical, festive air, are they a test? (Remember the spicy candy?!) I love a good mint every now and then, but if you order them, are you siding with Jesus and slighting Kier!? Who has the time to find out? We’ve got bigger seals to fry! And yeah, when prepared properly, salsa slaps. But salsa from the company vending machine? With no promise of chips? Do better, Lumon.

Mark’s Sad Fridge Contents

In Season 1, my ranking rule was that any non-Lumon related food was automatically ranked higher than a food with Lumon ties, because, well, it had to be safer, right? In Season 2, I mostly stuck to the same thought process, but the contents of Outie Mark’s fridge — minus the reintegration juice that keeps him alive — are simply so pathetic that I had to make an exception. Mark, my guy, if you’ve got some amazing leftovers hiding in those storage containers, I sincerely apologize. But if not, you have to admit this is not a solid spread. I understand you’re sad as hell, you just learned your dead wife is alive, you’re getting brain surgery in your basement, and you’ve got the most toxic job in the world, so you gets a pass on grocery shopping. But I simply can’t compromise the integrity of this list ranking to make you feel better.

A Lumon Pineapple

When I first heard that Lumon was embracing a new fruit in Season 2, I was thrilled! I’m not a huge melon head, so in terms of my own personal fruit hierarchy, upping the sweetness with pineapple felt like a step in the right direction. Then I thought about the prickly exteriors for more than two seconds and started to question the purpose, utility, and mysterious presence of the pineapples so heavily that I fear I can never eat one without thinking of Severance again. It’s the dead of winter in Season 2, so pineapples aren’t “in season,” right?! Is the fruit grown in-house like Lumon’s doors?! No thank you! Pineapple bobbing? Ouch. Pineapple bribery baskets? Sus. On Severance pineapples can’t be trusted, but they’re still delicious, so they rank higher than all the duds listed before them.

Copious Luxury Meats

Tragically, the “copious luxury meats” Milchick promised the refiners during the Woe’s Hollow camping excursion in Episode 204 didn’t didn’t get much time on camera, but they still sound delicious. Miss Huang can deputy manage the Severed Floor, brutally sass her boss, and play the freaking theremin, so of course we trust her on the grill. That said, Lumon meat of unknown origin cooked in the wilderness on an ORTBO is still slightly concerning, so proceed with caution.

Lumon Meal Kits And Tea

We’re kicking off the coveted AF Top 10 with a surprise Season 2, Episode 3 hit that only the most detail-oriented fans/press site frequenters will have spotted. When Burt & Felicia are catching up and reminiscing over their beloved Burt in O&D, they’re snacking on some fresh Lumon snacks that appear to be…ASSORTED BAKED GOODS?! Two Lumon Meal Kits are present, one of which potentially contains chocolate!? In another twist, Irv is switching things up even further by sipping on a box of Lumon TEA! How fun! You know, for hell!

Lumon Pie

In the spirit of dessert, I’m breaking the rules again to honor this tasty looking slice of testing floor pie from Episode 207. Under normal circumstances, any association with the testing floor would relegate this to bottom five — ahead of the airplane slop, but before the Drippy Pot plate. However, this season was so stressful that we deserve a treat. And Lumon-related or not, this piece of pie was one of Season 2’s most stunning edible offerings. What flavor is the pie? Key Lumon perhaps? Not sure. Why hasn’t Gemma finished it? Oh I don’t know, probably cause she’s SAD and TRAPPED and MISSES MARK. Why isn’t the pie in pellet form when everything else in her room is? Amazing question. And crucially, did Lumon tamper with it? I couldn’t tell you. But to paraphrase the great Gracie Abrams, “This pie’s the risk, I’m gonna take it.”

Irving’s Watermelon Head

Irving, I miss you like crazy. (RIP.) But respectfully, I want to sink my teeth into your gorgeous watermelon head. Yes, we’re at a funeral. Yes this fruit head is creepy, and weird, and unsettling. But it’s also beautifully sculpted (by Penko Platikanov) and Milchick made the Malaysian Black Beauty watermelon sound delicious, OK?! Next to those sad, played out honeydew and cantaloupe balls, this sculpture reigns supreme! And fruit comes before pie in this instance solely because the fruit is not on the testing floor. We’re back to following the rules, keep up!

Fields’ Ham With Cumin Glaze (And A Pile Of Loose Corn)

In Episode 206, we finally found out what’s for dinner: ham with cumin glaze and a pile of loose corn! While that might not sound overly appetizing, Severance doesn’t properly shine the spotlight on the full homemade spread Burt and Fields present to Irving when they have him over for dinner. On one hand, we’re not entirely sure how corrupt Fields and Burt are, so we sill have some reservations. On the other hand, ham! Corn! Pies! Dinner rolls! Sides! Salad! VISIBLE SEASONING, GARLIC, AND BUTTER. Yes, Chef Fields! Though the feast does have some Lumon ties, the meal was prepared and consumed away from the office, so it’s safer! Plus, Irving brought wine and Fields has an apron, so he clearly knows his way around the kitchen.

Kier Marshmallows

Like Season 1’s scrumptious looking Waffle Party waffles before them, if Season 2’s Kier marshmallows weren’t associated with Lumon they may have taken the top spot on the list. But alas! We’ve got five non-ORTBO foods ahead. Not before we give it up for these wonderfully thick, white, puffy, cloud-like marshmallow pillows with Kier’s face on them, though. That tray of Kiermallows looked so damn delectable in Episode 204 that Sarah Bock herself told Decider, “I was genuinely sad to throw away those marshmallows in the fire, because I wanted to eat them! And I was promised that I would get to, but I never did.” Milchick said marshmallows are for team players, so here’s hoping if he and the innies all band together to take down Lumon in Season 3 more of the sweet treats await. (And obviously bring Miss Huang back in Season 3, so Bock can get her Kiermallow.)

“Happy Plate” Pizza At Dylan’s House

Yes, the lighting is creepily dim in Dylan’s house and the vibes between him and his wife aren’t great this night, but takeout pizza slaps. Adorable kids are present. And one of those adorable kids made his plate happy by eating all his food, so you know it’s gotta be good! Am I concerned that the box says “Kier’s favorite slice of pizza”? You know it! But the whole town is compromised and they’ve gotta eat something…

Mark’s Flashback Sandwich

In honor of Season 1’s highest ranked food — a sandwich that Devon made Mark after the dinnerless dinner party — I’m ranking this sandwich that Mark made himself in a 207 flashback high on the list. A major pro is that the sandwich was made before Gemma was taken prisoner by Lumon and Mark got severed. Sadly, Mark was being an asshole to Gemma in this scene and Lumon was likely surveilling them ahead of her “accident.” But based on Season 1, we know the Scout siblings make good sandwiches! This one features some cold cuts, some condiments, and a sever down the center. It’s arguably not as good as Devon’s, but at least it’s assembled at home.

Devon And Ricken’s Books Reading Spread

Speaking of Devon, I’m a sucker for appetizers, so the #3 spot goes to the snacks at Ricken’s book reading — provided none of them were made by Ricken’s creepy friends Rebeck and Patton. We love a good bite-sized vehicle for cheese and spreads. So kudos to Severance for reminding us hors d’oeuvres exist in Kier, even in the home of people who throw dinner-less dinner parties.

Reghabi’s Ice Cream

One of my favorite Severance Season 2 moments is when Mark runs down to his basement in 206 to beg Reghabi to restart his reintegration process, only to find this diva absolutely divaing. Reghabi, queen of snacks, is chilling on her makeshift basement bed (with small fan) eating ice cream straight out of the carton after a long day of brain surgery. Who among us hasn’t done the same? Basically… She’s relatable. She’s hilarious. She’s a real one. She potentially asked Mark to buy her this ice cream, so you know she has taste. While we sadly can’t give her the world, we can give her and her ice cream the #2 spot on the list. And we will.

Zufu’s Chinese Food

Before Reghabi’s big ice cream reveal in 206, Mark leaves his basement in huff and makes a beeline for Zufu’s restaurant, where he orders enough Chinese food for at least two people. (Sidenote: The real restaurant, Eng’s, deserves some love as well!) Haters will say this meal is creepy and compromised, because Helena Eagan followed Mark to the restaurant and staged a meet-cute. I get it. But I firmly believe the food that Mark passionately shoveled into his mouth before she interrupted was safe, life-changing, and as untouched by Eagan antics as possible in Kier. It was so much food that plates cover Mark’s table when Helena arrives. And she even makes a hilariously rude comment about how much he ate! Chinese food for dinner is delicious on a normal night, so just imagine how hard those dishes hit in wake of Mark’s haunting reintegration hunger. Praise Kier!
