GARY, Ind. (WLS) — Charges have been filed in the shooting death of a 9-year-old boy over the weekend in northwest Indiana.
Raymon Bell has been charged with neglect, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, reckless homicide and obstruction of justice in the incident.

The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office said the boy, Adrian Brown of Gary, found and discharged the unsecured gun involved in his own fatal shooting.
“This heartbreaking incident serves as a solemn reminder of the devastating consequences of failing to properly secure guns in the home. The Lake County Prosecutor’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family and all those affected by this tragedy,” the office said in a statement.
Brown was found fatally shot Saturday night in the 400-block of Madison Street in Gary
The coroner’s office classified Brown’s death as a homicide.
Court documents show Bell and the Brown’s mother were not home at the time of the shooting. The boy was home with his two brothers, who are 11 and 13.
