Atlanta Police say the man failed to stay at the scene of the accident, faces several felony charges.

ATLANTA — A man who police say casually walked away from a deadly crash with his golf clubs has been charged with vehicular homicide.

According to an arrest affidavit, 31-year-old Buck Rollins was speeding in a Hyundai Elantra when he slammed into a Toyota Prius that was driving southbound on Mount Paran Road into the intersection of Northside Parkway in Atlanta. The accident occurred on Sept. 1 around 5:15 p.m.

Investigators said Rollins was driving 90 miles per hour in the right turn lane on westbound Northside Parkway when he drove over the curb and went airborne, striking the other vehicle with a driver and two passengers.

One of the passengers, 62-year-old Amy Lacy, died four days later. The two others were hospitalized for treatment of their injuries.

After the crash, Rollins continued driving on Mount Paran Road before eventually stopping near the Interstate 75 bridge. He was seen on video taking his golf clubs and “walking away casually from the scene of the accident,” according to the affidavit.

Police were unable to make contact with Rollins for two days. During a phone interview, Rollins said he had suffered a seizure and walked home. He could not explain why he did not remain on the scene. He told investigators he had been golfing before the crash.

Evidence collected from onboard vehicle computers showed Rollins attempted to brake 2.5 seconds before the accident, calling into question his claims of a seizure, according to investigators.

Rollins is also facing speeding, reckless driving, and hit-and-run charges.
