Kayla Jeffers and Jordan Daub joyfully welcomed their son, Weston, into the world on September 16, two weeks ahead of schedule.

LOUDON COUNTY, Tenn. — Kayla Jeffers and Jordan Daub knew they were going to have a big baby. Her previous babies were born at 8 pounds 13 ounces, and 9 pounds and 13 ounces but what she didn’t expect was that the first boy in the family would be so big.

“My doctor was like, ‘How much do you think he’s gonna weigh?’” she said. “I said twelve and a half pounds. Yeah, he was way over that.”

Originally, Jeffers was set to undergo a caesarean section at the end of September. However, the procedure was moved up by two weeks when it was discovered that her baby already weighed 12 pounds and 2 ounces. By the time of his birth, Weston had gained over a pound more.

“I was big and miserable,” she said. “I hate to say that, but it was a struggle throughout the pregnancy.”

She and her fiancé, Jordan Daub, welcomed baby Weston on Sept. 16 at Parkwest Hospital. He weighed in at a whopping 13 pounds and 3 ounces, and measured a length of 23 and a half inches.

“The doctor almost couldn’t lift him up. You don’t understand when I looked and saw how big he was.” Daub said. “He was huge.”

His parents said he was also a big hit at the hospital. Baby Weston saw visitors from many nursing shifts, doctors and even custodians, his parents said.

“Before they [nurses] clocked in, they came to see him because they said he was the biggest baby that the hospital had seen,” Daub said.

A Parkwest spokesperson said it would be difficult to verify if this was true.

Another Tennessee woman had an almost 13-pound baby in middle Tennessee, breaking hospital records, but Weston weighs about five ounces more. That baby made headlines this weekend with Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment.

At a little over three weeks old, their baby now weighs in at around 14 pounds, wearing clothes that are for a 3-month to 6-month-old baby, and drinking 150mL of milk each feeding.

“He’s a good baby,” Jeffers said. “He’s hungry, though.”

The family is also happy to welcome the only boy in the family. Daub and Jeffers each have two daughters, ages nine through 14. They said Weston Payne is a blessing.
