When Is Season 2 Of ‘The Recruit’ Coming Out? How to Watch the Noah Centineo Netflix Series
Share and Follow

The Recruit Season 2 is almost here and we can feel the chaos beginning to set in.

More than two years after Noah Centineo’s action series released its first season on Netflix, the show is finally coming back to answer all the questions and provide closure after a shocking Season 1 finale cliffhanger. The show — which sees the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before actor playing a newbie lawyer for the Office of the General Counsel inside the CIA — captured a sizable audience in its freshman season and fans have been eagerly awaiting more episodes that will finally reveal how the story moves forward.

The show’s creator, Alexi Hawley, knows that the fans have been waiting, too. For that reason, he says they had to take some big swings in the second season, including potentially career-ending choices.

“Owen knows that if he does not walk away with a win this season, his career is going to be over. He might go to prison,” Hawley told Tudum. “Depending on what people are into, they can show up this season for the big, flashy, splashy action stuff, but they can also be on a journey with this guy who’s just trying to fix something that he broke.”

No matter what your reason for tuning in is, Hawley is promising that you will walk away having found the answers you were looking for at the end of Season 1. You may also have new questions after a wild Season 2, but that’s still in the future so don’t worry about that yet!

But when exactly does Season 2 release? Who is returning from the Season 1 cast? And, most importantly, it’s been two years… what happened at the end of the first season?

We’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about The Recruit Season 2…

When Does The Recruit Season 2 Release on Netflix?

The full second season of the Noah Centineo-led action drama will drop on Netflix January 30 at 12 a.m. ET.

How Many Episodes Are There in The Recruit Season 2?

While Season 1 of The Recruit had eight episodes in total, Netflix is keeping it short and sweet in Season 2, only sharing six episodes this season.

What Is Season 2 of The Recruit About?

According to a Netflix description of the upcoming installment, Season 2 “finds CIA Lawyer, Owen Hendricks (Noah Centineo), pulled into a life-threatening espionage situation in South Korea, only to realize that the bigger threat just might be coming from inside the Agency.”

How Did Season 1 of The Recruit End?

After working tirelessly in the first season to release former CIA asset Max Meladze (Laura Haddock) from prison, Owen and Max wind up in Russia trying to reinsert Max into the Russian mob as an asset. Throughout the first season, Max had threatened to release classified and highly-sensitive government information if she was not released from prison, which prompted Owen to respond to her case in the first place. Realizing, however, that Max is still trusted by many in the mafia, the CIA attempts to drop Max back into her old life, but things are quickly derailed abroad. In the end, both Owen and Max are kidnapped by Karolina (Maddie Hasson), Max’s daughter who she had previously stated was dead. Shocker!

Sadly, it was not a heartwarming reunion for the mother and daughter as Karolina shot Max in front of Owen for reasons that are sure to be explained in Season 2.

How Can I Watch The Recruit Season 1 in the Meantime?

All eight episodes of Season 1 of The Recruit are currently streaming on Netflix. The episodes are each about an hour long so you have plenty of time to watch (or rewatch) before the new season drops. To do this, you need to have a Netflix subscription, of course. New memberships start at $7.99 for the ad-supported option, $17.99 for the standard plan, or $24.99 for premium.

Remind Me Again, Who Is In The Cast of The Recruit?

Aside from Centineo, the first season of the action drama featured Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Aarti Mann, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Laura Haddock, Kaylah Zander, Angel Parker, and Kristian Bruun. Nathan Fillion also appeared in the final episode as CIA Director Alton West, who will return for the new installment.

Season 2, set in South Korea, welcomes newcomers Teo Yoo, Young-Ah Kim, Felix Solis, James Purefoy, Shin Do-hyun, Sanghee Lee, Omar Maskati, Brooke Smith, Devika Bhise, and Alana Hawley Purvis. Additionally, Maddie Hasson returns from Season 1 as Karolina.

You’re not the first person to ask that question. While it’s true that both shows star hunky Netflix veterans battling against government spooks and other dastardly foes, Noah Centineo’s The Recruit is most definitely a different show than Gabriel Basso’s The Night Agent. (Netflix is partially to blame for this confusion, as Season 2 of both of these shows are releasing just one week apart.)

The Recruit Season 1 is currently streaming on Netfllix.
