WASHINGTON — Nasal and teething swabs sold nationwide are being recalled due to a possible fungal contamination.

Church & Dwight issued a voluntary recall of all Zicam Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, Zicam Nasal AllClear Swabs and Orajel Baby Teething Swabs on Friday. According to the recall, the products may be contaminated with fungi.

The microbial contamination poses serious health risks and could cause life-threatening blood infections. Children and those with compromised immune systems or other underlying conditions are most at risk.

The New Jersey-based manufacturer said there have been no reports of illness in relation to the recall.

Nasal and teething swab recall:

  • Zicam® Cold Remedy Nasal Swabs, with UPC 732216301205, all lots.

  • Orajel™ Baby Teething Swabs, with UPC 310310400002, all lots.

The products were sold and distributed nationwide in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Consumers are urged to stop use of the recalled products immediately. The company has established a dedicated website at www.churchdwightrecall.com and a consumer hotline at (800) 981-4710 to process full refunds for affected products.

Any additional questions can also be directed to that hotline, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
