Actor Graham Greene, best known for his work in the 1990 film “Dances With Wolves,” has died at the age of 73.

Greene died on Monday in Toronto after battling a “lengthy illness,” his agent confirmed to ABC News.

He made his mark in movies and on television with close to 200 credits.

Greene had been working as an actor for more than a decade when he struck movie gold with “Dances With Wolves.”

He was nominated for an Oscar for his supporting role as “Kicking Bird” opposite Kevin Costner. The film would go on to win seven Oscars, including Best Picture.

Greene grew up on Canada’s Six Nations Reserve and, over the years, he would go on to help open doors for other Indigenous performers.

He was beloved in Canada, winning awards and receiving a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame.

In the U.S., besides the Oscar nomination, he also won a Grammy in 2000 for Best Spoken Word Album for Children.

Greene starred with Val Kilmer in “Thunderheart” and with Mel Gibson, James Garner and Jodie Foster in “Maverick.”

Among his many credits are “The Green Mile,” “Snow Dogs,” “Transamerica,” “Die Hard With a Vengeance” and “The Twilight Saga: New Moon.”

Besides his movie work, Greene also did a lot of television.

He was part of the Native American Marvel mini-series, “Echo.” Greene did three episodes of “Reservation Dogs,” two episodes of “Murder, She Wrote,” and, more recently, an episode of “Tulsa King.”

You’ll see Greene in two movies set to open next month: the thriller, “Ice Fall,” and the adventure film, “Afterwards.”
