The man was arrested on three felonies revolving around alleged fraud, according to local news media.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A man dressed as Chuck E. Cheese was pulled from a child’s birthday party and arrested Thursday in Florida, according to reports.
The man was arrested on three felonies, according to local news media The Tallahassee Democrat.
Records show he was charged with theft of credit card, criminal use of personal identification information and fraudulent use of a credit card more than two times within six months.
The photos and video of the incident are gaining attention online, leaving some wondering why the officers couldn’t wait until after his shift, or at least until he wasn’t in costume near children. TMZ said a birthday party was ongoing at the time of the arrest.
A TikTok video of the arrest shows the man, in full costume with the mascots head and all, being led out to a patrol car where officers pull the mouse head off the suspects head and set it on top of the car.
He is still wearing the Chuck E. Cheese gloves and oversized red shoes while handcuffed.
One commenter took to the police department’s social media to say her children were “still crying” after seeing the mascot arrested.
Reports say he was released after posting a $1,000 bail. No other information is known at this time.
