WASHINGTON () Two Republican lawmakers are working on a bill to put Charlie Kirk’s likeness on silver dollar coins.

U.S. Reps. Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., and Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas, plan to introduce the bill before the end of the week.

The lawmakers said that should the bill become law, no more than 400,000 Kirk coins would be minted.

“Charlie Kirk was a conservative titan whose transformational impact on millions of Americans deserves permanent recognition alongside our nation’s greatest leaders and influential figures,” Pfluger said in a statement. “This commemorative coin will make Charlie the youngest American ever immortalized on legal U.S. currency, a fitting honor that cements his extraordinary legacy alongside presidents and founding fathers who shaped our republic. Through his leadership of Turning Point USA and relentless advocacy for American values, Charlie built a movement whose torch we will proudly carry forward to defend our nation’s core principles for generations to come.”

While the bill’s chances remain uncertain, the U.S. Treasury Department does not need congressional approval for individuals’ likenesses to be placed on currency.

Kirk, a conservative influencer and podcaster, was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking to a crowd at Utah Valley University in Orem.

Tyler Robinson, 22, faces seven charges related to Kirk’s death, including aggravated murder, obstruction of justice and witness tampering. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray said his office will pursue the death penalty.
