Following the conclusion of Operation Metro Surge, where most federal immigration agents have exited Minnesota, one county remains focused on evaluating public reports of alleged misconduct by these agents.

Hennepin County has launched the Transparency and Accountability Project (TAP), inviting residents to submit photos, videos, and detailed accounts of any questionable encounters.

“Our TAP team is currently investigating 17 cases brought to our attention by the public, including the actions of Gregory Kent Bovino near Mueller Park on January 21,” stated Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty in a recent press release.

“We will investigate and pursue charging where appropriate, and we’ll seek collaboration with local law enforcement wherever and whenever needed,” Moriarty added.

White House border czar Tom Homan acknowledged in mid-February that ICE operations are ending in Minnesota. Homan said that he, along with a small footprint of personnel, would remain for a period of time to close out and transition “full command and control” back to the field office.
