JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday a reward for information leading to who killed 7-year-old Breon Allen last week was increased to $25,000 .

Multiple shooters pulled up and killed the child and injured a 21-year-old man just after 5 p.m. Jan. 24 near Commonwealth Avenue and Almeda Street on the Westside, JSO said. The reward was increased from its original $18,000.

The sheriff’s office said Saturday detectives recovered the vehicle used by the shooters. The reward is available to anyone who provides information that leads to the shooters’ arrests.

Last Friday, dozens of gunshots could be heard in surveillance footage obtained by First Coast News

“Today has been a nightmare,” Breon’s mother, Casheena Love, told First Coast News the night of the shooting. “I have never experienced nothing like this in my life and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”

Love said Breon was a football star who was loved by everyone. He had his first basketball practice on Thursday.

“I never, never thought I’d be burying one of my babies,” she said. “If anybody seen anything, heard anything, know anything please, please, please, please, call it in. Call me, call family members, stop by the house I don’t care. Please let us know what happened to our baby. He was seven years old he did not deserve this.”

If you would like to report information that could help JSO’s investigation, you can do so anonymously with First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
