A concert in Melbourne Wednesday night resulted in several fans sustaining injuries after part of the ceiling collapsed.

The shocking incident occurred when the band Bad Omens was performing the final track in their set.

Confetti canons were shot up into the air, causing what seemed like parts of the ceiling to shake at Festival Hall. This resulted in several tiles falling onto the crowd below.

On Facebook, one fan claimed that their friend had been injured by the falling debris.

“My friend got hit with it, soft tissue damage to her hand & maybe broken/fractured fingers. She’s (rightfully) pissed,” the shared.

Another fan commented that their sister had been hit, claiming “Luckily nothing broken but she’s very sore & needs time off work”.

One concert-goer alleged of the harrowing experience that two women had been left “bleeding” by the incident.

One attendee recounted the chaos, saying, “It was actually really bad… Two girls got dragged out in front of me, one bleeding from her mouth and neck, the other from her knee… A bunch of people in the area were scrambling to get out.”

Another fan who was injured in the incident told Wall of Sound Australia that she was “covered in blood” from a concert-goer next to her.

Another person mentioned, “I was recording on Snapchat when it happened and my video cut as I got hit and my phone flung a meter away from me as I dropped to the ground, I was covered in blood from the girl next to me and she was very out of it, seems as if she was looking at the confetti and it’s [the debris] bounced off my hand and got her straight in the face.”

“[The} hospital gave me a medical certificate to cover a few days off and see how it heals up, venue people seemed to care very little but the paramedics on scene were amazing,” the Snapchat user added.

Bad Omens appeared to have been completely unaware of the incident, as they proceeded to perform the rest of the song before walking offstage and returning shortly after for an encore.

Festival Hall has been approached for comment and has not confirmed whether Thursday night’s second sold-out show is due to go ahead as planned.
