Ryan Gosling made a rare public appearance with Eva Mendes to celebrate her 52nd birthday, marking a special occasion for the typically private couple.
The 45-year-old actor, gearing up for the launch of his new movie “Project Hail Mary,” joined Mendes on Thursday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
Gosling and Mendes first met in 2011 while working on the film “The Place Beyond The Pines,” and have since largely kept their relationship away from the public eye.
The couple appeared cheerful and affectionate as they were warmly greeted by Fallon and the studio audience, both sporting big smiles.
Later, they were spotted next to a large sign reading “Happy Birthday Eva!” which was prominently displayed by a marching band.
Colorful confetti could be seen falling down onto the ground inside the studio where the taping of the late night talk show took place.

After Mendes and Gosling first sparked up a romance on the crime thriller over a decade earlier, they also welcomed two daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, nine.
He recently revealed how their two children were involved in his new sci-fi adventure film Project Hail Mary – which hits theaters on March 20.
The premise is: ‘Science teacher Ryland Grace (Gosling) wakes up alone on a spaceship light-years from Earth.
‘As his memory returns, he uncovers a mission to stop a mysterious substance killing the sun, and save Earth. An unexpected friendship may be the key,’ per IMDB.

‘I made this for them essentially,’ Gosling expressed during an interview with Access last month.
‘As a family, I’d like a movie like this that I’d like to see. I just feel really honored that I got to make one.’
The actor added that his children’s opinions on the film were important to him.
‘My kids have seen multiple cuts. They give me multiple notes. They’re basically the only critics I care about, and they are very critical and very honest,’ the star shared.
Mendes has also been supportive of the actor and his forthcoming lead role in the film – which is based on the 2021 science fiction novel of the same name.
Last month on Valentine’s Day, the Ghost Rider actress jumped to her main Instagram page to share a series of snaps as she modeled a shirt to promote Project Hail Mary.
The short-sleeved shirt had the words ‘Believe in the Hail Mary’ printed towards the top.
In the caption of the carousel of pictures, the mom-of-two penned: ‘For my Valentine ♥️.’

Back in 2022, Mendes seemingly revealed that both she and the actor had tied the knot when she referred to Gosling as her ‘husband.’
During a past interview with GQ, the actor revealed that he did plan on having a family until he met Mendes.
‘I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her,’ he told the outlet.
The star explained that filming scenes as a family with Mendes prompted his outlook to change. ‘I didn’t really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.’
Gosling further commented on fatherhood and stated that, ‘I would never want to go back, you know?
‘I’m glad I didn’t have control over my destiny in that way, because it was so much better than I ever had dreamed for myself.’
And while previously talking to People, Mendes also discussed having children later in life. ‘When I was 40, it was a big deal for people when I was pregnant, and it wasn’t for me.’

Gosling will also host Saturday Night Live for the fourth time later this week on March 7
She added, ‘And then I was 42 and I was pregnant with my second one and people were like, “Oh my God, you’re going to be so tired. That’s why people have kids in their 20s.” I was like, that’s the most sorry, asinine thing I’ve ever heard.
‘It takes more patience. In my 20s, I shouldn’t have even been around a child. I was just foul-mouthed and smoking. I could not have raised kids in any other era of my life but now, for sure.’
Gosling will also host Saturday Night Live later this week on March 7.
He notably took part in a humorous promo where he thought he was joining the five-timers club only to discover it was his fourth time hosting the sketch comedy series.
