A violent confrontation unfolded in San Jose over the weekend as several men were caught on video aggressively restraining an individual on the ground. Authorities are now probing the incident as a possible antisemitic hate crime.
The altercation erupted on Sunday afternoon at Santana Row, a bustling shopping area, after what began as a verbal dispute. According to the San Jose Police Department (SJPD), the exchange may have included the use of antisemitic slurs, escalating the situation.
“The victims reported that antisemitic language was used by the suspects during the conflict,” stated a police spokesperson. “The Assaults Unit is currently investigating the case as a potential hate crime.”
Police officials indicated that the incident began when a trio of men approached two other men, both of whom suffered minor injuries as a result of the skirmish.

Footage captured part of the altercation unfolding in an outdoor dining area. In the video, one young man can be seen repeatedly beating an individual lying on the ground while another suspect gripped the victim’s foot, restraining him in place.
As onlookers watched, voices were heard in the background yelling, “Knock it off! Stop!” before the suspects were seen fleeing the scene.

Both victims were also evaluated on site by medical personnel for minor injuries.

According to an X account @TheJewishAlly, the victims were attacked after they were heard speaking Hebrew.
