The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office says an argument in the parking lot of the bar led to shots being fired and several people were detained.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A shooting in the parking lot of a San Marco bar early Monday morning left a man dead and a woman injured, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., patrol officers responded to Locals Bar, located at 1216 Kings Ave., in reference to the shooting, JSO Sgt. Steve Rudlaff said.

When officers arrived, Rudlaff said they found the man who was between 30-35 years old, and the woman who is between 25-30 years old, both shot.

Rudlaff told First Coast News members of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department then arrived on scene and pronounced the man dead.

The woman was taken to a local hospital after sustaining a “non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her back,” Rudlaff said.

Rudlaff explained there was an argument between two groups of individuals in the parking lot of the bar, which led to the shooting. The bar was closed during the time of the shooting, Rudlaff said.

According to Rudlaff, officers detained several people at the scene.

“At this time, we do believe that this is an isolated incident,” Rudlaff said. “Everyone is accounted for. There’s no other threat to the community at this point. We do not believe it has anything to do with a domestic situation.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call JSO’s non-emergency number at 904-630-0500. To provide information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
