A couple was swept from the rocks into the frigid Pacific Ocean off Northern California, triggering a dramatic rescue operation.
The pair, whose identities have not been released, were pulled into the surf by powerful waves at Santa Cruz’s notoriously dangerous Panther Beach on Tuesday afternoon.
Dramatic footage showed rescue swimmers from the Santa Cruz Fire Department and California State Parks Public Safety team reaching the couple and bringing them back to shore. Once on the sand, rescuers performed chest compressions.

Video released by NBC also showed an official watching from a cliff with binoculars as bystanders helped direct rescuers toward the injured pair below.
Both victims are in their 30s and were treated by emergency crews, although their conditions have not been disclosed.
According to KSBW, one person was airlifted by Stanford Life Flight, while the other was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
