Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Moved to Low-Security Prison After Reported Altercation

NEW YORK — Sean “Diddy” Combs has been transferred to a federal prison in Pennsylvania following reports that the hip-hop mogul had been enjoying an unusually comfortable lifestyle and was hurt in a confrontation at his New Jersey facility, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to The Associated Press on Friday.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons moved the 56-year-old Combs from FCI Fort Dix to FCI Allenwood Low, a low-security prison located south of Williamsport and roughly 155 miles (250 kilometers) west of New York City, the person said. The individual was not authorized to discuss the transfer publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Bureau of Prisons confirmed that Combs had been relocated but declined to explain why. The agency said it does not comment on the conditions or circumstances of confinement for people in its custody, citing privacy, safety and security concerns.

“Decisions about inmate placement are made by the BOP, and we are not in a position to speak to the circumstances surrounding this transfer,” Combs spokesperson Juda Engelmayer said. “Sean remains focused on moving forward, and we hope that his time at the new facility will be productive and without unnecessary disruption.”

Combs is serving a four-year-and-two-month federal sentence after being convicted last year on prostitution-related charges involving the transportation of people across state lines for sexual encounters. His trial included disturbing testimony about violence and the sex parties he referred to as “freak-offs,” bringing intense scrutiny to one of the most powerful figures in music and entertainment.

NBC News reported last month that Combs had continued to enjoy elements of his millionaire lifestyle at FCI Fort Dix. The report said he had smuggled in Hennessy, enlisted fellow prisoners to cook and clean, make his bed and provide massages, and used a contraband cellphone to browse social media and view nude selfies belonging to a former girlfriend.

TMZ reported Wednesday that Combs had been injured during a fight with another inmate at Fort Dix and was taken outside the prison for medical treatment. The Bureau of Prisons issued an unusually direct denial, telling the AP that the report was “false and did not happen.”

After the NBC report, Combs was placed in the prison’s special housing unit, a highly secured area separate from the general population and used for prisoners facing disciplinary or security concerns. The person familiar with the matter also said Combs lost 41 days of good-conduct credit, moving his projected release date to March 2, 2028.

In April, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments in Combs’ challenge to his conviction and sentence. His attorneys argued that the punishment was excessive. The appeals court has not yet issued a ruling.
