Shakira’s latest cancelled concert was supposed to take place in Washington, DC at Nationals Park on Saturday night.

The Colombian singer, aged 48, recently completed a successful tour named Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which set a new record. Originally, she had planned to participate in the welcome event for WorldPride. However, the venue revealed on Friday that she will not be performing as originally scheduled.

It comes after the Whenever, Wherever hitmaker had to cancel two back-to-back shows scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Boston’s Fenway Park.

The cancellations were due to city inspectors identifying ‘structural elements that were not up to standard,’ according to TMZ.

Around 5pm EST on Friday, Nationals Park posted a statement online reading, ‘Due to complications with the previous show in Boston, Shakira’s full tour production cannot be transported to Washington, D.C. in time for her scheduled performance at Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31.’

WorldPride is the largest LGBTQ+ festival in the world and will kick off June’s internationally recognized Pride Month.

Per TMZ, Shakira responded by saying, ‘I have been counting the days, excited to be reunited with my fans in both Washington and Boston, and my team and I have made every effort to make it happen, but it doesn’t depend on any one of us right now, and I am devastated that these shows were just not possible this time.

‘I promise that I will do everything in my power to be with you as soon as I can.’

The ballpark’s message to ticketholders continued, ‘Refunds will be issued automatically for Ticketmaster and Nationals.com purchases — no further action is required.’

Shakira had previously used her X profile to get fans excited about her shows in Boston.

On Wednesday she shared two photos with Will.I.Am and Wycleff, writing, ‘Boston I’m coming! Will.I.Am and Wycleff tomorrow! I can’t ask for more!! And can’t wait to be on stage with all of you!’

Despite the string of misfortunate, the pop star can celebrate her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour becoming the highest grossing Latin American concert by a female artist, surpassing Karol G’s Mañana Será Bonito tour.

Her Mexican and South American shows have grossed a staggering $130 million with 21 shows.

As reported by Billboard, Shakira’s is the only Latin tour to reach Top 10 of the 2025 midyear Boxscore Report, ranking number two globally.

It falls behind Coldplay, who earned $142 million with 1.3 million people turning up for 20 shows between October 31, 2024 and March 31, 2025.

Shakira fell on stage during a performance of her 2001 hit Whenever, Wherever last week at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The three-time Grammy winner was in the middle of performing the high-energy track when she slipped and hit the ground.

A fan posted a clip of the fall on Instagram, which showed the entertainer losing her balance sideways and hitting the ground.

Ever the consummate professional, she gathered herself and continued with her performance.
