Shedeur Sanders praises Brian Daboll as Giants draft rumors swirl

Big Blue’s next potential franchise quarterback appears to already have a strong relationship with Brian Daboll.

Shedeur Sanders took some time to chat with the “DNVR Buffs” podcast during Radio Row before Super Bowl 2025. The former standout quarterback from Colorado talked about his friendly handshake with the Giants coach during the Shrine Bowl.

“We ain’t practice it,” Sanders said while smiling. “He got a different kind swagger about him too though – he was cool though, he was down to earth. He understand kind of how I am and who I am. And I understood him, also. As long as everybody go into a situation where I’m not going to believe anything I see online mutually then it will be a good relationship. You know?”

Sanders spoke to some NFL teams at January’s Shrine Bowl as the draft process kicked off, although he did not attend the Senior Bowl, where offensive coordinator Mike Kafka served as a head coach.

The Post’s Paul Schwartz reported the Giants had a soft interview with Sanders which left a good impression on the front office.

Sanders only had good things to say about Daboll, whose Giants own the No. 3 pick in the April 24 draft.

“But if you go into a relationship with all these preconceived thoughts, it’s never going to work,” he said. “So you have to go into everything genuine and let people show you who they are and, to me, he’s a great guy, great coach and he’s definitely a man of his family, so I like coach for sure.”

Sanders could be available to the Giants as both the Titans and Browns consider their options in the draft’s top two positions, respecitvely.

The son of Colorado coach Deion Sanders has been hinting at preferring the Giants as his landing spot for weeks now, as he wore custom Giants cleats at the end of his college career and said he will be playing against the Cowboys “very soon.”

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions this past season.

He would certainly provide an upgrade over the 3-14 Giants’ quarterback situation last year, which consisted of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tim Boyle and Tommy DeVito.
