Sherwin-Williams Unveils ‘Offbeat Green’ as 2026’s Most Unique Color

LeBron James has managed to breathe new life into what was once considered the most forlorn of colors.

Offbeat Green SW 7606, a shade largely overlooked within Sherwin-Williams’ expansive palette, has recently been dubbed The Loneliest Color of 2026. This greenish-yellow tone, often relegated to the back of paint swatches, is described as an “earthy, lime green” in an effort to highlight its understated charm.

In an intriguing twist, Sherwin-Williams has embraced this underdog hue, marketing it as an opportunity to “rediscover the beauty of color.” Each year, the company selects a lesser-known shade, aiming to breathe new life into it through innovative pairings and vibrant displays.

Once collecting dust on shelves, Offbeat Green has found salvation through a unique collaboration with the LeBron James Family Foundation. This partnership has not only spotlighted the color but also aimed to rejuvenate its image.

Central to this collaboration is the PROMISE Project, a transformative initiative focused on constructing a home education center in Akron, Ohio. This center, meant to empower first-time homeowners, will feature a door painted in this distinctive yellow-green. Launched in 2011, James’s I PROMISE initiative continues to uplift educational opportunities and provide family support in his hometown, now with an unexpected splash of color.

The two organizations say the partnership comes from the shared values of finding “hidden potential” and “opening doors” for those who don’t have opportunities. For Offbeat Green, that means a revival and potentially being used on new doors and walls; for new homeowners, it means being given step-by-step guidance in the path to homeownership.

Sherwin-Williams markets the loneliest color as “finding value in what others overlook,” which James says coincides with building confidence in those who need support and encouragement, like potential homeowners.

Along with the project, the partnership has set up various giveaways and sweepstakes, including an Offbeat Green basketball signed by the basketball legend.

Offbeat Green joins other flat paint shades like Radiant Lilac and Kingdom Gold in The Loneliest Color Archive, as each year the company chooses an unpopular shade and reframes it as “unconventional.” Last year, WNBA star Paige Bueckers promoted The Loneliest Color by referring to it as “unapologetic.”

Sherwin-Williams has remarketed the repellent green by describing it as a “celebration of individuality” and a nature-esque color that “isn’t afraid to go against the grain.”
