Despite the alleged altercation, filming proceeded as planned.

Pate, who co-created Outer Banks alongside his brother Joshua Pate, has been a central figure in the show since its debut on Netflix in 2020.
The hit teen adventure drama follows the rivalry between the working-class ‘Pogues’ and the wealthy ‘Kooks’ in the fictional coastal town of Figure Eight, North Carolina.
Blending treasure-hunting escapades, romance, and class warfare, the show quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest breakout hits, particularly among younger audiences.
Led by Stokes as John B and Cline as Sarah Cameron, the ensemble also includes Rudy Pankow (JJ), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), and Carlacia Grant (Cleo).
Together, the crew gets caught up in wild adventures, buried secrets, and plenty of drama — all while hunting for lost treasure along the Outer Banks coast.
The show’s sun-soaked setting and rumored romances between the cast helped turn Outer Banks into a pop culture sensation.
Since its 2020 debut, it’s topped Netflix’s global charts multiple times.
In November 2024, Netflix confirmed that Outer Banks will conclude with its upcoming fifth season, which is expected to bring closure to the central characters’ journeys and tie up the long-running treasure saga that began in Season 1.
Outside of Outer Banks, Jonas Pate has also built an impressive body of work in television.

He created the Prime Video series The Runarounds — a coming-of-age music drama that follows a group of aspiring teenage musicians chasing fame — which notably features his daughter, Lilah Pate, among the cast.
Before that, he and his brother Joshua co-created the NBC sci-fi drama Surface in 2005, a short-lived cult favorite that centered on mysterious sea creatures discovered in the depths of the ocean.
In December 2024, Pate revealed to Port City Daily that he was developing a prequel to Outer Banks titled Kildare.
The project is still in early development and is expected to introduce a new cast of young actors while exploring the origins of the rival groups in the show’s fictional town.

Sources told TMZ that ‘tensions were high’ during production and that such outbursts were not ‘unusual behavior’ for Pate; (Cline and Stokes in Outer Banks)
Pate is reportedly developing multiple projects under his production banner, including a comedy titled Driver’s Ed.
‘A road trip movie always ends up funny,’ Pate told Port City Daily of Driver’s Ed. ‘And this one has a lot of hijinks.’
He added that many of the same crew members from Outer Banks and The Runarounds will collaborate on future projects, including Driver’s Ed.
‘We all work well together,’ he said.
