The gruesome discovery of Celeste Rivas’ dismembered body in a Tesla linked to musician D4vd has left investigators with troubling questions about the case.
According to those close to the investigation, the 15-year-old victim had been decapitated, with her limbs severed and further mutilated.
Insiders revealed that by the time her remains were uncovered in the trunk of the Tesla, they were ‘partially frozen’ and beginning to thaw, as reported by TMZ.
This chilling condition may complicate the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s efforts to pinpoint Rivas’ cause of death, according to sources familiar with the probe.
The Tesla, stationed outside D4vd’s rented home in the Hollywood Hills for several days, was finally towed after a foul odor led authorities to the shocking discovery of Rivas’ remains.
D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, has been identified as a suspect but has not been charged with any crime.Â
The Daily Mail has contacted the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office for comment.Â
According to a TMZ podcast, a second suspect has been identified by the Los Angeles Police Department in the death of Celeste Rivas, a 15-year-old girl who was found in the back of singer D4vd’s Tesla
Meanwhile a second suspect has been identified in Rivas’ death, according to a podcast on the TMZ network.
Famed defense attorney Mark Geragos and TMZ Founder Harvey Levin revealed their findings in the latest episode of their show, ‘2 Angry Men’.
They say that multiple sources with knowledge of the Los Angeles Police Department’s investigation told them that detectives believe a second person is involved in Riva’s death.
On Wednesday, People reported something similar from a police source, but added that this unnamed person also likely participated in the disposal of the body.Â
Levin said he wasn’t fully told why police now believe 20-year-old D4vd allegedly had help.
But Geragos pointed out that he was aware that the LAPD has established a detailed timeline of the crime by putting together social media posts, cell phone records and Tesla tracking data.
‘They have triangulated this to the point where…they’ve got a chart at LAPD that you would not believe. They’ve got this thing down to a timeline that’s almost by the minute,’ Geragos said.
Levin believes that because Teslas have interior and exterior cameras, police are likely in possession of footage that shows this accomplice.
D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, has been identified as a suspect but has not been charged with any crime
The LAPD declined to confirm the reporting so far on a second suspect.
Rivas’s body was found inside the trunk of D4vd’s impounded car on September 8, one day after 15th birthday. D4vd was on tour throughout the US at the time.
The car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills, with neighbors telling NBC Los Angeles that it had been there for about a month.
After it was towed to an impound yard, workers reported a foul smell coming from the frunk, the front trunk of the vehicle.
When police arrived at the scene and opened the compartment, they found Rivas’s remains in a bag.Â
Authorities have not determined a cause of death for Rivas yet because of the dismemberment and advanced decomposition of her body. They are waiting on toxicology reports to get a clearer picture.
Rivas has been missing for more than a year when her body was discovered.
She was known to frequently run away from her home in Lake Elsionore, California, and left for the final time in April 2024.
People reported on Friday that D4vd is allegedly ‘not cooperating’ with law enforcement’s investigation and has not yet been interviewed.Â
As of November 22, no one has been arrested or charged.Â
