The iconic “It’s A Small World” ride holds a special place in the hearts of Disney enthusiasts, yet recent revelations have left some visitors unsettled due to potential mold exposure on the beloved attraction.
This renowned indoor boat ride, found in several Disney parks, delights guests with around 300 animated dolls joyfully singing about global harmony.
However, recent comparisons of the ride in Anaheim, California, have left some Disney fans feeling uneasy.
One particular clip showed a gondola display that had undergone a transformation — a thick black line, suspected to be mold, was effectively cleaned away.
Shared on X, the platform previously known as Twitter, the footage captured the boat navigating through the Italian scene of the ride, with viewers commenting on the refreshed and vibrant appearance of the exhibit.
‘They finally did it! Disney has cleaned the thick black line on this little gondola on It’s A Small World,’ the user, known as GreenCheetah99, shared online.
Viewers were quick to chime in with their own thoughts about the ride – many sharing the before images of the display caked in a dark substance, and expressing their concern over possible inhalation.
‘I noticed it every time I rode!’ said one regular visitor.

‘Just ruining our childhoods more and more,’ complained another.
‘Yep the magic is lost,’ slammed someone else.
The Daily Mail has reached out to Disney for comment. It is not confirmed what the substance is.
It is estimated that 3,300 people ride It’s a Small World per hour, which could mean that thousands of guests were greeted with the grime.
The It’s A Small World ride is featured at Disneyland Park in California, Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Park (Paris), and Hong Kong Disneyland.
The ride was first introduced at the 1964/1965 New York World’s Fair before it was installed in all Disney parks worldwide.
Mold forms when microscopic, airborne spores land on water-damaged materials, such as drywall, wood, or paper, in high-humidity environments.
It’s a fungus that may cause allergic reactions, with symptoms including sneezing, coughing, congestion and eye irritation.

Mold isn’t the only thing causing health concerns at the famous park.
Last week, a second measles case was confirmed in connection with an exposure at California’s Disney theme parks.
It came just one week after health officials announced the first patient had been infected, which exposed thousands of people to the deadly virus.
A spokesman for the Orange County health department said: ‘People who were at these locations during the date and times listed above may be at risk of developing measles from 7 to 21 days after being exposed.’
This is the third case of measles reported in the region this year.
