Authorities in Georgia are on the hunt for a woman suspected of commandeering a full-sized school bus from an elementary school and taking it on a nearly 40-mile joyride before leaving it in a different county, officials reported.
The bus was reportedly taken from Arbor Springs Elementary School in Coweta County during the early morning of February 9. It was later found abandoned in Temple, a city within Carroll County, as reported by Fox 5 Atlanta.
Investigators have noted that the suspect did not need to break into the vehicle, as she seemingly had access to a key.

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office released images from the bus’s internal surveillance system, which captured the suspect in action. The footage also showed a bag or purse placed on the front seat.
Internal surveillance cameras on the bus captured images of the woman during the incident, and a bag or purse that could be seen on the front seat.
The bus was recovered without any visible damage and occurred on school property outside of normal school hours, the sheriff’s office said.
The incident remains under investigation.
“We’re asking the public, especially those in Temple, Georgia, that area,” the sheriff’s office told the local station. “If they recognize whoever’s in the photo please reach out to investigator Taylor.”
