GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities have arrested 36-year-old Jerrica Michelle Conley following accusations that she deliberately burned a hotel staff member’s hand after being asked to vacate the premises.
Just before midday on April 2, a Gainesville Police Department officer was dispatched to the Hampton Inn located at 101 SE 1st Ave. The victim reported encountering Conley on the hotel’s second floor, despite Conley having been repeatedly instructed to leave. The staff member then accompanied Conley to the lobby, reiterating the request for her departure.
While in the lobby, Conley paused at the coffee station. Despite further requests to exit, Conley allegedly activated the coffee spout while the victim’s hand was underneath, resulting in hot coffee spilling onto it. Other hotel staff promptly intervened to remove Conley from the premises.
An additional hotel employee is said to have witnessed the event, and the responding officer noted that the victim’s hand appeared red and slightly swollen from the incident.
Conley, whose address is listed as St. Francis House, has been charged with simple battery. She has five misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); Judge William Davis ordered her released on her own recognizance.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law
