In an alarming incident late Sunday morning, a deranged individual pushed two subway passengers, including an 83-year-old man, onto the tracks at an Upper East Side station, according to police and law enforcement officials.
The attack occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. at the Lexington Avenue–63rd Street station in Manhattan. The victims, an elderly man and a 31-year-old, were each awaiting their train when the assailant approached from behind and aggressively pushed them onto the tracks, authorities reported.

Officials indicated that the attack appeared to be completely random and without any provocation.
After the assault, the perpetrator fled the scene, leaving the victims in a perilous situation on the rails, police stated.
Fortunately, quick-thinking bystanders sprang into action, rescuing the two men before any trains arrived, according to police accounts.
The two victims did not know each other, and no train was entering the station at the time, according to authorities.

EMS arrived at the scene and took the two men to Cornell Hospital, where they’re in stable condition, according to authorities.Â
The shover is still on the lam. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket, red hat, tan pants and green shoes, police said.Â
