An infuriated patron hurled a steaming cup of coffee at a McDonald’s staff member in Saginaw, Michigan. The woman was so well-recognized locally that authorities received upwards of 100 tips pinpointing her identity soon after releasing video footage of the incident.
The altercation was captured on camera by witness Tara Martus, documenting a lengthy confrontation between the customer and the employee.
In the footage, the woman claims she waited at the McDonald’s for an hour, clashing with the worker who explains that her breakfast order was automatically canceled since breakfast hours had ended. The employee assures her a refund has been processed and will appear in her account within 48 hours.
As the employee attempts to disengage, the customer erupts with profanities, removes the lid from the cup, and angrily douses the worker with the hot liquid as she turns away.
Buena Vista Police Department initially made a public request for assistance in identifying the suspect, but updated their post within an hour, confirming they had already identified her.
Detective Russ Pahssen of the Buena Vista Police Department told MLive he received “over 100” tips and the woman was identified “in two minutes,” but was still at large.
The employee suffered minor burns, and the department recommended the suspect be charged with felonious assault, MLive reported.
