Shocking Verdict: ‘Party Mom’ Found Guilty for Hosting Teen Sex Parties at Home

A California mother, known for hosting wild parties, has been found guilty of multiple child endangerment charges after allowing teenagers to indulge in alcohol and engage in sexual activities at her luxury home.

Shannon O’Connor, aged 51, faced a staggering 63 charges related to incidents at her lavish $5 million estate, where she permitted underage drinking.

The charges against her comprised 20 felonies and 43 misdemeanors.

Prosecutors revealed that O’Connor orchestrated gatherings reminiscent of the movie “Project X,” starting in 2019. Some victims were as young as 11, although the formal charges pertain to events from 2021 onwards.

Throughout her 16-week trial, the jury was presented with videos showing intoxicated minors, drunken teenagers, and refrigerators filled with alcohol.

Witnesses described a pattern of manipulation and coercion by O’Connor, who authorities say created environments where teens were encouraged to engage in sexual conduct.

O’Connor now faces three decades in prison. The full list of verdicts were still being read in court – but she was found guilty to at least a dozen child endangerment charges, alongside a two counts of sexual penetration when victim is intoxicated.

Her lawyer, Stephen Prekoski, focused his defense solely on the counts involving alleged non‑consensual sexual acts between teens, as well as charges of annoying or molesting a child, dissuading a witness, and child endangerment.

He told the court that he was not arguing O’Connor was innocent of every allegation she faced. 

Jurors heard in February that she also took her then-14-year-old son and a teen girl to Las Vegas in 2020, where she pushed them to drink.  

‘Someone give me a f**king beer,’ her son wrote in a group chat after landing in Sin City, text messages shown in court displayed, according to KRON 4. 

‘I’m down,’ O’Connor allegedly replied. ‘Champagne? [Let’s] hit the pool with drinks, lots of drinks… What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.’

She also allegedly used Snapchat to communicate with her son’s friends, often talking about sex and drinking with them, according to prosecutors.

Some of the teens have said they used to speak with the ‘Los Gatos Party Mom’ every day. ‘Looking back on it, it’s pretty weird,’ one teenage boy said.

The student, known as John Doe 5, testified that O’Connor was even going beyond her ‘cool mom’ reputation and increasingly becoming more like one of the ‘popular’ girls of their own age. 

He added that she controlled who had sex with whom, and that he personally discussed sex with O’Connor regularly, KRON 4 reported.

The mother allowed sexual assault and abuse to happen at parties at her mansion, including one girl who testified she felt pressured to have sex with her boyfriend and lost her virginity at O’Connor’s house. 

‘Do you really feel like it was consensual?’ Deputy District Attorney Joanna Lee asked the girl, known as Jane Doe 8, according to Los Gatan, a local news outlet. 

‘I felt like I had to do it at a certain point. I didn’t say no,’ she replied. 

‘But you felt pressure?’ Lee asked. ‘Yeah, I did,’ the girl responded. 

The same girl also testified that she believed she was sexually assaulted while ‘blackout’ drunk at O’Connor’s property. She told the court she went to bed with underwear on and woke up without any. 

She said it was unclear who may have assaulted her, whether it was her boyfriend or even O’Connor. 

‘I’m suggesting it might have been Shannon,’ she told the defense when asked to clarify who she thought allegedly abused her, according to the Los Gatan.

The young girl also testified that O’Connor had bought her an expensive Tiffany necklace, flowers, and smoothies, and the pair spoke everyday. 

‘She called me ‘pretty’ or ‘beautiful,” she told the court. O’Connor also allegedly made comments that the other teenage girls were ‘all b**ches and how I was the best girl.’   

O’Connor was also known for holding out-of-control parties for her son and fellow Los Gatos High School Students beginning shortly after he graduated from middle school in June 2020, court documents said.

The legal documents claimed the ‘party mom’ would encourage her guests to get drunk and have sex for her own sexual gratification. 

During one particularly wild event at the luxury beach rental, O’Connor allegedly gave youngsters beer and liquor before they caused $9,000 of damage.

The house was surrounded by security cameras that captured the grizzly events that ensued, according to KRON4.

Footage was played in court on January 6, which showed a slew of teenagers throwing up, chugging alcohol and smashing cans on the home’s manicured lawn.

The rental’s owner testified that the partying had left their gorgeous beachfront home completely ‘trashed.’

He said: ‘It’s a valuable property. We have two beautiful bathrooms. The boys peed everywhere around the yard … really acting like a bunch of hooligans.’

The security footage reportedly showed delivery drivers arriving with liquor and beer as O’Connor appeared to be the only adult present.

‘It just kept coming and coming. It was like 20 beers for each kid … copious amounts of alcohol,’ the owner said per KRON4. ‘I was astounded.’

O’Connor allegedly refused to pay for the extensive damage until the rental’s owner threatened her with a lawsuit.

The defendant’s controversial partying extended well beyond the vacation home, per court filings.

Witnesses alleged that O’Connor was known to host parties at her mansion in Los Gatos, an affluent Bay Area community known for upscale stores and restaurants, while her husband was away.

Her exclusive guest lists were reportedly comprised of freshman boys and whichever girls she deemed ‘pretty’ and ‘trustworthy’ enough to keep the raucous partying a secret.

She also allegedly threw a party of a beachside rental house (pictured), where the teens drank a copious amount of alcohol and caused $9,000 worth of damage 

‘She would reject girls as guests by saying they weren’t ‘pretty enough’ or didn’t ‘put out,” court documents stated.

One witness claimed teens would often hook up in designated rooms at the parties, alleging that two downstairs bedrooms were used for teenage sex.

At a December 2020 party, O’Connor allegedly handed a condom to a boy and pushed him into a room with an intoxicated girl.

The girl escaped and locked herself in the bathroom, authorities said.

Prosecutors said that during a New Year’s Eve party at her home with about five 14-year-olds, O’Connor allegedly watched and laughed as a drunk teenager sexually battered a young girl in bed.

At the same party, the infamous ‘party mom’ allegedly watched as a boy in a hot tub sexually assaulted a girl who was reportedly so drunk ‘she could barely hold her head above water,’ court documents said.
