In a heart-stopping moment captured on video, a plane’s tire unexpectedly detached just after takeoff at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on Monday. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 p.m. local time as British Airways flight 274 was making its ascent, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The dramatic footage reveals the plane smoothly lifting off before a wheel abruptly separates and tumbles back to the ground soon after leaving the runway.
Despite the unsettling occurrence, FAA officials reported that the Airbus A350 proceeded on its transatlantic journey to Heathrow Airport in London, where it ultimately “landed safely.”
