In a dramatic and unexpected incident captured by a doorbell camera, a truck in Oregon made a startling aerial entrance into a home in Tigard. The unusual event took place early Friday morning, leaving the residence uninhabitable and its driver in custody.
According to police reports, the driver was speeding recklessly through a nearby intersection when his vehicle hit a dirt mound. This sent the truck flying an astonishing distance of over 100 feet, clearing a brick wall before crashing into the house. Remarkably, this all unfolded while the home’s occupants were peacefully asleep.
Homeowner David Brudnok recounted the terrifying moment, “I got woken up by a massive slam, and the whole house shook. It was surreal,” he said. His wife, who was knitting in a nearby room, began screaming for him in panic.
In what can only be described as a scene out of an action movie, the incident has left both the family and community in shock. The house now bears the scars of this bizarre accident, underscoring the unpredictable nature of reckless driving and its potentially devastating consequences.
Police say a man was recklessly driving through a nearby intersection, hit a dirt mound, and launched through the air for more than 100 feet, clearing a brick wall before landing inside the house while the family was sound asleep.
“I got woken up, just the slamming and the house rumbled and like, it was, it was crazy,” said homeowner David Brudnok. “And then my wife was, was knitting in the room just right there and I heard her start screaming my name.”
The truck left a massive hole in Brudnok’s home, destroying what was once the bathroom, he said.
Brudnok got himself, his wife, and his young children out of the house to safety. The ordeal left the entire family uninjured but shaken.
Authorities later determined the driver had been speeding prior to the crash, which occurred just before 3 a.m. on Scholls Ferry Road, according to the Tigard Police Department. The driver, Jacob Hankins, 33, is accused of reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
