Senior Pastor Marcos Bosque says the man killed was Joe Clark, who he called a ‘Godly man.’ His grandson was injured in the shooting.
CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. — The victims of a shooting in the Deerwood Village neighborhood in Woodbine on Sunday night have been confirmed as a grandfather and his grandson. The grandfather, identified by his pastor as Joe Clark, died from his injuries.
Senior Pastor Marcos Bosque said Clark, a member of the congregation at First Baptist Church of Harriett’s Bluff, had just celebrated his 41st wedding anniversary before his death. The church is located minutes from the neighborhood where Clark was found shot in the middle of the road.
Bosque described Clark as a “Godly man.” He said Clark’s mother, who also attended the church, is heartbroken.
According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Clark was found in the middle of the road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office said a child was also shot in the arm during the incident. The child was airlifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police are still investigating and reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
“We owe it to this community to conduct a thorough, unbiased investigation — and that’s exactly what we intend to do,” Sheriff Kevin Chaney said.
Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or who has surveillance footage from Deerwood Village or Harriett’s Bluff to contact Sgt. Fortner at (912) 674-9485 or by email at mafortner@camdensheriff.org.
