It may be time to say goodbye to the ladies of Real Housewives of New York City.
Bravo has stopped the flagship series temporarily, according to a report from Page Six, as the network is rethinking the show’s direction. The show will no longer be broadcast, and there are currently no specific plans in place for its possible return.
Originally premiering in 2008, the series featured a cast that played a crucial role in shaping the franchise. Members like Bethenny Frankel, Luann de Lesseps, Ramona Singer, and others contributed significantly to the show’s success. However, it was recently reimagined with a fresh and younger cast that includes Jenna Lyons, Brynn Whitfield, Racquel Chevremont, Jessel Taank, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Rebecca Minkoff, and Sai de Silva.
Bravo still reportedly “hopes” to bring the show back.
“We’re trying to figure that show out,” an inside source told the outlet. “We want to figure it out. We think there’s still life in it.”
According to Page Six, the network faced challenges when trying to cast women from New York for the show. A source mentioned, “At this point they seen peoples marriages ruined, their kids lives ruined, their businesses ruined. It’s just not a very desirable thing to sign up for.”
It had previously been reported in February that none of the cast members were invited back or given a contract for Season 16 yet, sparking rumors that the show could be getting recast again.
And rumors began to swirl when both RHONY and Real Housewives of New Jersey were noticeably missing from the network’s recent programming announcement, which included a brand new Housewives series and several revivals.
For now, it’s unclear if the RHONY ladies will be returning to our screens, or if it’s time to get to know a new cast of housewives. But a spokesperson for Bravo denied that the show has been canceled, which means there’s always hope for more.
“Nothing is official. The show hasn’t been cancelled,” they said.
