6 charged in $170K Rolex smash-and-grab on Magnificent Mile

CHICAGO (WGN) Six people have been charged with theft, burglary and criminal damage to property following a robbery at the Rolex Boutique store on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile on Friday.

The offenders allegedly broke the store’s exterior glass windows and display cases with a hammer and stole five watches totaling $170,500.

Police say employees and shoppers were inside the store taking shelter in a security room when the burglary occurred. They watched the heist unfold on security cameras.

The group led law enforcement on a chase down Lake Shore Drive and the Dan Ryan Expressway after the incident. A Chicago Police Department helicopter followed them.

The offenders crashed the vehicle and were apprehended on foot, according to information presented in court. No one was injured during the incident.

Chicago police recovered four of the five stolen watches.

The alleged offenders charged were identified as:

  • Victory Banks, 33 
  • Will Brown, 21 
  • Aldonte Goodman, 22 
  • Anthony Hampton, 24 
  • Dalvin Johnson, 31 
  • Armon Williams, 18 

They were charged with:

  • Theft by unauthorized control of property exceeding $100,000 and $500,000
  • Burglary
  • Criminal damage to property between $500 and $10,000
