The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says Dr. Daniel J. Donofrio was in possession of thousands of images/videos depicting the graphic sexual assault of children.
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A St. Augustine doctor has been arrested for possessing thousands of sexual images and videos of children and toddlers, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
SJSO announced the arrest of 75-year-old Dr. Daniel J. Donofrio Thursday in a Facebook post. The sheriff’s office said Donofrio was taken into custody Thursday on 26 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
However, SJSO said additional charges are expected for Donofrio.
According to SJSO, detectives executed a search warrant at Donofrio’s home and seized several electronic devices.
“During an initial forensic examination of the devices, thousands of images/videos (over 3 terabytes) were discovered depicting the graphic sexual assault of children and toddlers,” SJSO said in its Facebook post.
