The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says the 21-year-old man portrayed himself as a 15-year-old on Snapchat to the 11-year-old girl.

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office (SJSO) is asking parents to report if their child is a victim of a man accused of grooming an 11-year-old girl and charged with several child sex crimes.

On Thursday, SJSO posted on its Facebook page the arrest of 21-year-old Ali Aldemar Moreno. In the post, the sheriff’s office said Moreno was arrested in October by its Special Victims Unit.

“Moreno portrayed himself as a 15-year-old boy on the social media platform Snapchat, groomed the child, then later picked her up near her bus stop and drove to another location, where he assaulted her,” the post states. “During the ongoing investigation, detectives identified additional victims and are concerned that more exist.”

Moreno is currently in custody at the St. Johns County Jail, according to SJSO, and is charged with the following:

  • Capital sexual battery
  • Traveling to meet a minor
  • Online solicitation of a minor
  • Production of child sexual abuse material
  • Possession of child sexual abuse material
  • Unlawful use of a two-way communication device

SJSO asks parents and guardians to please have “intentional conversations” with your children about the dangers of social media and grooming tactics of online predators, adding that if your child has been victimized by, or has had any contact with Moreno, to contact the sheriff’s office immediately.

You can call SJSO’s non-emergency number at 904-824-8304 or email them at crimetips@sjso.org. To report information anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-88-277-8477.
