An exciting collaboration has emerged between music icon Snoop Dogg and the LGBTQ+ advocacy organization GLAAD, resulting in a new song for Snoop’s animated children’s series. This endeavor reflects a commitment to inclusivity and understanding.

The track, titled “Love Is Love,” premiered on October 13 as part of Snoop’s YouTube series “Doggyland.” Making a special appearance in the song is Jeremy Beloate, who gained recognition as a member of Snoop’s team on “The Voice” in 2024.

“Love Is Love” conveys a poignant message through its lyrics, which celebrate diverse family structures. Lines such as “our parents are different, no two are the same, but the one thing that’s for certain is the love won’t change” are complemented by animated depictions of various dog families, featuring same-sex couples, single parents, and older dogs in parental roles.

In a heartfelt video, Snoop Dogg expressed his motivation for creating the song, stating, “It’s about fostering understanding and clarity about our diverse ways of living. I believe this music acts as a bridge to build that understanding.” He added, “These are questions kids often have, and now we have a way to help answer them, encouraging them to live happily and embrace that love is love.”

“Just trying to get more understanding, clarity on how we live and the way we live. I felt like this music is a beautiful bridge to bring an understanding,” Snoop said in a video. “These are things kids have questions about, so now hopefully we can answer these questions and help them live that happy life and understand that love is love.”

Snoop voices one of the show’s main characters: a purple and yellow dog named Bow Wizzle. He raps atop the funky beat with a choir of children providing background vocals.

The song’s description on YouTube encourages viewers to sing along and “celebrate families of all shapes and sizes.”

“We embrace all parents with a big ‘ol hug, love is love and there’s nothing above, different families make us all great, there’s no debate, that’s how we relate.” Bow Wizzle sings.

The partnership with GLADD comes after the rapper made comments about the 2022 Pixar “Toy Story” spinoff “Lightyear,” which featured a scene with a same-sex couple along with Disney and Pixar’s first same-sex kiss.

On an episode of the “It’s Giving” podcast with host Sarah Fontenot, Snoop said he was “scared” to go to the movies because he didn’t have answers for the questions his grandson was asking.

“My grandson, in the middle of the movie, was like ‘Papa Snoop, how she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman,’” he recalled during the August podcast episode. “I didn’t come for this (expletive), I came to watch a (expletive) movie.”

He went on to question why the movie had to “show, at this age, this to kids” with podcast host agreeing about what the answer could be.
