Fans of the cult classic “American Pie” were taken aback when they realized the age of one of the film’s standout characters, Stifler’s mom.

Jennifer Coolidge brought life to the unforgettable role in the 1999 comedy hit, where her character was famously pursued by her teenage son Stifler’s friends.

In a post that recently gained attention on social media platform X, people were astonished to discover that both the character and Jennifer Coolidge herself were just 38 during the movie’s release.

The Instagram post humorously highlighted this fact, stating: “Hey millennials, did you know the American Pie character Stifler’s Mom, aka Jennifer, was actually the grand age of *drum roll*… thirty-eight.”

For context, millennials, those born between 1981 and 1996, are now between 29 and 44 years old.

Taking to the comments, fans wrote: ‘I’m 37, I would have never known she was supposed to be my age. I need to step it up.’

Jennifer became an overnight sensation, and has admitted she ‘got a lot of play at being a MILF’ and ‘a lot of sexual action from American Pie’.

Jennifer said in an interview with Variety: ‘I got a lot of play at being a MILF and I got a lot of sexual action from American Pie.

‘There were so many benefits to doing that movie. I mean, there would be like 200 people that I would never have slept with.’

The actress added that the ‘special attention’ she received extended beyond her bedroom antics and into the wider film industry.

She added: ‘Maybe I got this special attention because people saw me as Stifler’s Mom or the Legally Blonde woman.

‘So if they see something else… People that I could never get in the door – all of a sudden they’re asking me to be part of their things.’

While portraying the matriarch of the Stifler family, Jennifer’s character tried to seduce her teen son’s classmate, Paul Finch (played by Eddie Kaye Thomas), in every way.

During the film, she has sex with Finch, to her son’s horror, and the duo go on to have a few more flings, earning her the reputation of a ‘MILF’ [‘Mother I’d like to f**k’].

The hit comedy – which featured an ensemble cast including Jason Biggs, Shannon Elizabeth, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan and Eugene Levy – arrived in theatres in 1999 and made more than $235million worldwide. 

The performance led to her returning for sequels including American Pie 2, American Wedding and American Reunion. 

In more recent years, she has become best known for her role as Tanya on the HBO series The White Lotus which earned her a Golden Globe award.
