Millie Bobby Brown has sparked ire after suggesting Stranger Things has ‘prevented’ her from working on projects she is ‘passionate’ about, with insiders claiming crew members have been left ‘disappointed’ with her lack of ‘respect’.

The 19-year-old actress, who was 12 when she first appeared on screen as telekinetic Eleven, said in a recent interview that she is ready to say ‘goodbye’ and ‘get out’ after the fifth and final season.

But her blunt remarks have reportedly irked those who work behind-the-scenes, with claims she should ‘respect’ the series that has ‘made her career’.

‘Don’t be surprised if we hear from Millie in the near future bringing back her comments a little bit, because although they were her true thoughts, she now sees how it looks,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘Lots of people who work on the show, within the crew, are disappointed in her words coming out the way they did and feel she should respect the hard work so many have done for a show that made her career and pays her bills.’

The insider continued: ‘They all love her, and these comments won’t put a bad taste in their mouths for too long, because by the time they start filming and finish the show, this will be long in the rearview.

‘But the comments have definitely hit a nerve for those who need a job like Stranger Things to make ends meet. It’s just seen as a bad look from many who work on the show.’

DailyMail.com has reached out to a representative for Millie for comment.

The British star, who is worth an estimated $14 million, reportedly earned $20,000 per episode of the first season, before receiving a hefty increase to $250,000 per episode by season three, according to Deadline.

Playing Eleven has also spurned a handful of major film roles, including the Enola Holmes franchise in which she is said to have received a $10 million pay check for the second installment – setting a reported record for the largest upfront salary paid to an actor under the age of 20.

So it is perhaps no surprise that her latest comments irritated fans who slammed her for wanting to wave goodbye to the sci-fi hit that enabled her fame and fortune.

Speaking to Glamour, she said: ‘Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, “Thank you, and goodbye”…

‘When you’re ready, you’re like, “All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here”.’

She did note her appreciation for ‘the tools and the resources’ the series gave her ‘to be a better actor’.

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – one person wrote: ‘She has the right to feel that way. However, it’s stupid to put your employer on blast publicly for – checks notes – having to work.’

Another person posted: ‘How about be grateful for the thing that gave you the life you enjoy today.’

A third fumed: ‘Imagine being this ungrateful to the role that gave you fame and pays you millions.’

A fourth pointed out that Stranger Things is the ‘only reason she’s famous’ while someone else claimed Millie was ‘hating on the thing that made her’.

Others defended Millie, with one person posting: ‘She could have worded that a little better to sound a bit more grateful but I completely understand where she’s coming from.’

Millie, who is engaged to 21-year-old Jake Bongiovi, has also topped up her fortune with endorsements and the launch of her own beauty line, Florence by Mills which has since expanded into clothing.

She was announced as a brand ambassador for French fashion house Louis Vuitton last year, making her debut in an eyewear campaign alongside model Karlie Kloss and singer Lous and the Yakuza.

The actress, who is signed to IMG models, has previously featured in campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein, Pandora, Moncler and Samsung.

It is not the first time Millie has spoken publicly about her desire to move on from Stranger Things.

She told Seventeen magazine back in March: ‘I’m definitely ready to wrap up. I feel like there’s a lot of the story that’s been told now, and we know of it, it’s been in our lives for a very long time.

‘But I’m very ready to say goodbye to this chapter of my life and open new ones up. I’m able to create stories myself that are important to me and focus on the bigger picture. But I’m really grateful [for the show].’

Set in the 1980s, Stranger Things follows a bunch of school friends battling to save their small Indiana town from being taken over by supernatural forces from an alternate dimension.

Winona Ryder, Noah Schnapp, David Harbour, Charlie Heaton and Natalie Dyer also star.

Filming for the fifth and final season has been delayed by the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
