In a curious twist of fate, the New York Jets and New England Patriots find themselves resembling reflections in a funhouse mirror this season.
As we approach week 17, the Jets, led by Brady Cook, are struggling with a disappointing 3-12 record. In stark contrast, the Patriots, under the guidance of Drake Maye, boast an impressive 12-3 standing, sharing the AFC’s top spot with the Denver Broncos.
The two teams will clash today at 1 p.m. ET, each with distinct goals. The Jets are eager to play spoiler, perhaps dimming the playoff hopes of a strong contender in their final home game. Meanwhile, the Patriots aim to reinforce their already stellar 2025 season and secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
“I think [Cook] gives us the best chance to win, but we also want to evaluate where he is at,” said Jets head coach Aaron Glenn during a press conference. “That applies to a lot of guys on this roster. He wouldn’t be in there if he didn’t give us a chance to win games.”
As the Patriots prepare to face the Jets, there’s much at stake for both teams, albeit for vastly different reasons.
