Prosecutors contend that David Burke, known professionally as D4vd, initiated a sexually abusive relationship with Rivas Hernandez when she was merely 13 and he was 18. As the narrative goes, the relationship allegedly turned deadly after she threatened to expose their secret, putting Burke’s burgeoning music career in jeopardy.
Testimony from a detective with the LAPD unveiled unsettling evidence found on Burke’s phone, including explicit images reportedly involving both Burke and the underage victim. Text messages between the two hinted at topics of pregnancy and abortion early on, with exchanges starting just two months after Rivas Hernandez’s 13th birthday.
One particularly chilling message from Burke read: “let this abortion be the last one till we have the real one.”
