In a series of chilling videos, the eerie aftermath of a violent crime unfolds as Decarlos Brown, the alleged murderer of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska, is seen calmly departing a train in North Carolina. Captured by surveillance cameras, the footage reveals Brown’s composed demeanor as he walks along the Charlotte train platform. This unsettling scene occurred moments after Zarutska, just 23 years old, was brutally stabbed multiple times on a busy commuter train on August 22.

The surveillance footage, made available to The Post, paints a disturbing picture of panic and chaos as passengers frantically called for help and fled the Lynx Blue Line train where the attack took place. Meanwhile, Brown, a homeless man with schizophrenia and a lengthy criminal history, was observed carrying a red hoodie—a garment he wore during the alleged attack, which involved stabbing Zarutska three times, including a fatal wound to the neck.

In another segment of the video, the 34-year-old Brown, who was free on bail despite 13 prior convictions and an ongoing trial, is seen crossing from one platform to another. He appears to be smoking a cigarette and speaking incoherently to himself, a chilling sight given the violent act he allegedly committed just minutes before.

As the footage continues, Brown is seen adjusting his sweatshirt, seemingly oblivious to the unfolding drama. This eerie calmness is abruptly interrupted when four armed officers arrive on the scene, quickly subduing him and taking him into custody. All the while, the train where the horrific incident occurred remains stationed, a grim reminder of the crime that had just transpired.

He then fiddled with his sweatshirt before four armed officers ran up and tackled him to the ground — as the train where the bloody carnage unfolded remained parked at the station, the footage shows.

Brown was quickly cuffed as officers searched the platform, his hoodie, and a nearby trash can.

Zartuska — who came to the US in 2022 seeking a safer life after Russia invaded Ukraine — was pronounced dead on the light rail.

Previously released footage from inside the crowded train showed the terrified victim cowering with her hands over her face, looking up at her killer in fear after being stabbed during the random attack.

Zarutska, her pants spattered with blood, collapsed to the floor seconds later as her attacker strode down the train car, knife in hand, leaving a trail of blood behind him, the harrowing video showed.

Horrified bystanders quickly called 911, giving a description of the alleged slasher while Zarutska lay unconscious, bleeding out.

Brown now faces federal and state charges and could receive the death penalty if convicted.
