LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is accused of stabbing his grandfather to death in the south Las Vegas valley, according to Metro police.
On Monday, around 6:30 p.m., police received a report from a man who said his nephew stabbed his father in the 10000 block of Wildhurst Street near Bermuda Road and Cactus Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the garage door open with the suspect inside the garage. Police arrested him without incident and continued inside the house where they found an elderly man lying on the floor suffering from apparent stab wounds, LVMPD Homicide Lt. Robert Price said Monday night.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The suspect’s grandmother told officers she was awoken by him “acting very strangely” inside her bedroom, Lt. Price said. The suspect then left the bedroom and his grandmother followed him downstairs when he approached his grandfather who was lying on the couch.

The suspect then, unprovoked, pulled out a knife and began to stab his grandfather, police said. The grandmother screamed, causing the suspect to drop the knife and run into the garage.
Police said there were two children in the house who did not witness anything.
