DENVER (KDVR) A suspect is in custody after an Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday morning for a missing 16-year-old girl who was later found safe.

An Amber Alert was issued after 6 a.m. on Tuesday, searching for a 16-year-old who, at the time, was last seen on Monday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. in Boulder. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation said she was seen being “forced” into a two-door grey truck. On Tuesday, just before 11:30 a.m., the bureau said the girl had been found safely.

The bureau said in the Amber Alert that the truck was believed to be driven by 19-year-old Juan Bretado. The bureau believed there was another unknown male suspect in that truck who took the girl. The Boulder Police Department said in an update that the suspect was in custody.

The Boulder Police Department said the girl was last seen at her residence in the area of 4500 19th Street around 8:30 p.m. on Monday. At the time, police said they believed she was in danger, and she didn’t willingly get into the truck, which they describe as a cream or white 2007 Chevy Silverado.

The truck was last seen at 8:57 p.m. on Monday near Thornton Parkway and Gale Boulevard in Thornton, according to the bureau.

The Boulder Valley School District said the girl is currently attending Arapahoe Ridge High School. The district sent a letter out to students and families on Tuesday morning, reiterating the search for the girl. The district said that it’s in touch with law enforcement and will be working to support law enforcement.

This is a developing story. FOX31 will update this post when more information becomes available.
