CHICAGO () An individual suspected of involvement in a shooting incident targeting U.S. Border Patrol agents in Chicago’s Little Village area over the weekend has been apprehended, according to a source on Monday.

While the identity of the person in custody has not been confirmed, it is not yet clear if this individual is the same man accused by the Department of Homeland Security of discharging several rounds from a black Jeep at agents during a Saturday operation in Little Village. Thankfully, no agents were harmed in the event.

Details from DHS sources reveal that the detainee is a Mexican national with a prior conviction for weapons charges, and who is believed to have unlawfully entered the United States. The individual is also detained under the Laken Riley Act for allegedly assaulting federal agents, as stated by a DHS representative on Monday.
