The suspect was arrested in the rapper’s hometown Monday. He is the fifth person arrested in the case.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested a fifth suspect in the murder of Jacksonville rapper Charles Jones, known as ‘Foolio.’

The suspect did not stray far from Foolio’s hometown; Davion Murphy, 27, was arrested at an apartment on Labelle Street Monday night.

JSO said Murphy was “wanted for murder” in Foolio’s death. Foolio was killed in an ambush shooting on June 26 in Tampa, which police say was part of an ongoing gang war which he was locked in for years before his death.

Detectives interviewed Murphy and he has been booked in the Duval County Jail.

Four other suspects have been arrested in this case: Isaiah Chance, 21, Alicia Andrews, 21, Sean Gathright, 18, and Rashad Murphy, 30.

JSO has partnered with the Tampa Police Department in this case. JSO says the two agencies were in contact Monday.

“This arrest highlights our commitment and perseverance to solving this murder,” JSO Director of Investigations and Homeland Security  Mark Romano said. “While it took some time, JSO and partners worked daily to hold these individuals accountable.”

JSO says the investigation is ongoing and more information will become public when appropriate.

Gang has ties to rap scene

After Foolio’s death, Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said the suspects in the case belonged to Jacksonville-based gang ATK, as well as another gang called 1200.

The Department of Justice said in a release in 2022 that ATK stands for “Ace’s Top Killers.” The release says this is referring to Jacksonville rapper Yungeen Ace, whose real name is Keyanta Bullard. Ace and Foolio were rivals while Foolio was alive, figureheads on opposite sides of a gang war that left many dead, until Foolio himself was killed.

At a press conference following Foolio’s death, officials were asked about Bullard’s potential involvement.

“Yungeen Ace has long been known in Jacksonville,” Waters said. “We are consistently monitoring those groups. We have people that are always watching them.”

He said there is no investigation into Yungeen Ace at this time. “But he can’t move around in Jacksonville without us knowing about it. And that’s for the betterment of our community,” said Waters.
