When you think of Thanksgiving, the first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t Taco Bell. However, the fast-food giant is redefining holiday traditions with a creative spin on a Thanksgiving staple.

In an unexpected twist, Taco Bell has transformed its beloved Baja Blast soda into a unique pie, offering a fresh take on festive desserts.

For those familiar with the tangy citrus flavors of Baja Blast, the pie is described as a creamy delight, reminiscent of a key lime pie. Taco Bell promises it is “unexpected in every way,” making it a standout addition amid the usual holiday fare.

The company describes this innovative treat as “more than your everyday dessert.” It’s a bold statement intended to stand out in the midst of traditional side dishes like stuffing.

‘It’s the iconic tropical Baja Blast flavor reimagined as a creamy key lime-style pie that’s more than your everyday dessert. It’s a statement in a sea of stuffing,’ the chain said.

‘More than a delightful dessert, the Baja Blast Pie is a Friendsgiving flex, making you the hero of thanksgiving.’

The pie made its debut on November 6, and curious consumers were desperate to try the creation.

But many Taco Bell fans have blasted the chain for their crazy Baja Blast concoction.

People online were appalled by the bright blue hues of the pie filling, and those who have been brave enough to try it for themselves have been disappointed by its frozen texture.

According to a TikTok review, the pie costs $24.99, and customers are limited to one per person.

‘Taco Bell, I promise no-one is buying more than one… if that,’ Kayleigh Leon said in her TikTok video.

‘This thing looks radioactive,’ she said, adding: ‘I’d have to be baja blasted to eat this thing.’

Leon rated the pie a two out of 10 and said, ‘Just because it’s edible doesn’t mean you should eat it.’

A customer wrote on X: ‘It’s weirdly gummy’, and another said: ‘why did Taco Bell make a baja blast pie????? who asked for this.’

Others were surprised to actually enjoy the dessert. ‘It tastes like key lime pie with a hint of Mountain Dew. Shockingly it was pretty solid,’ Patrick Simpson said on X.

Taco Bell revealed all their newest menu items for the year back in March.

CMO Taylor Montgomery revealed the chain will add more than 10 new menu offerings by the end of 2025 at the chain’s ‘Live Mas LIVE’ event on March 4.

These products included a twist on their fan-favored drink, Baja Blast: Mountain Dew Baja Midnight.

The Live Mas LIVE audience also got excited over Taco Bell’s upcoming Mike’s Hot Honey Diablo Sauce.

The CMO insisted the sauce would be great for the chain’s Chicken Nuggets, which will be returning to menus twice this year on unknown dates.

Montgomery gave brief shout-outs to menu items already added this past year, including Luxe Cravings Boxes and the Caliente Cantina Chicken Menu, before the event was over.

After the audience cheered for the upcoming Flamin’ Hot Burrito and Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa menu items, Montgomery mentioned the restaurant chain knows how much customers ‘love their beverages.’

Montgomery then announced ‘the future of Taco Bell beverages’ called Live Mas Cafe, which has one location in Chula Vista, California. The cafe includes a 30-drink menu, including the Dirty Baja Blast.

Outside of food and beverage items, Montgomery also announced it would launch Fan Style, a new Taco Bell app feature that will allow customers to customize, save and name menu items.
